Freedom, or NOT!

Hello!

It’s been a while since my last blog post.

How have you been?

I spent five weeks in Japan from the end of May,

and just returned to Colorado this Tuesday.

I usually don’t experience much jet lag,

but I’ve been feeling a bit sleepy during the day and

taking short naps here and there over the past few days.

Today is Independence Day here in the U.S.

How are you spending it?

In our family, our eldest daughter is out with friends and

will be coming back after watching fireworks.

Every year, my husband cooks a special meal,

and we all enjoy it together.

We’re still not sure if we’ll go out to see the fireworks

and the drone show this time.

Anyway, I’d like to share a recent realization I had —

something about freedom and limitation.

I came to feel that freedom and limitation actually coexist.

It’s not one or the other — maybe

it’s something like 70% freedom and 30% limitation,

or another balance depending on the moment.

To be honest, I hadn’t really thought much about “freedom” or “limitation” before.

But during my time in Japan, there were moments when I felt, “Wow, I’m really free!”

And then I wondered, “Does that mean I usually feel limited?”

But no — it’s not that I feel constrained either.

That’s when I realized that freedom and limitation form a kind of yin and yang, a Taiji.

They’re not fixed at 50/50 — the ratio is always shifting.

There’s freedom even within limitation, and limitation even within freedom.

So what’s the point of all this?

Honestly… maybe there isn’t one!

I just wanted to write it down — a small realization I had.
